WHAT IS THE FEMINIST HEALTH FUND?

The Feminist Health Fund is a non-profit group that offers assistance to women 18 years and older for health related expenses during times of financial hardship.  The fund has been helping women living in Greene County, Ohio and the surrounding area for more than 40 years.

WHAT ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF THINGS THE FEMINIST HEALTH FUND WILL OFFER GRANTS FOR?

The Feminist Health Fund provides support for costs related to alternative, complementary, and conventional treatments. Past grants have included help with prescriptions, supplements, emergency dental care, eye care, psychological counseling, medical supplies, acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, and treatments for illness such as cancer, Crohn's Disease, gastritis, fibromyalgia, and hemorrhagic cysts.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

Any woman currently living in Greene County, Ohio or adjacent counties may apply for assistance with health related expenses.  Both biological and gender-identified women are eligible to apply.  All applicants must be age 18 or older.

HOW IS FUNDING AWARDED?

In most cases, the Feminist Health Fund works directly with a woman's health care provider to pay her expenses.  In certain situations, we may be able to negotiate lower fees or coordinate services with other agencies on her behalf.

There are rare instances where the Feminist Health Fund has helped to pay rent or gas bills when a woman has been hospitalized for a major illness, or transportation costs to a medical facility in another place.

WHO FUNDS THE FHF?

You do! Funding for over 90% of FHF operations comes directly from private donations. Donations are typically under $50.00 but their impact is significant for our applicants.
